k. Christin rajah
Founder and President – Peace360 Initiative Inc
Chris was born in a rural village in Northern Sri Lanka. Because of the civil war, he lived his entire childhood in internally displaced and refugee camps in Sri Lanka and India, experiencing intense suffering. While he was growing, he continued to raise questions about the horror of war, tragedies and hardships. He became worried about the future. Somehow, the suffering that he has survived, has helped him to build and find the purpose of his life; commit his life to serving people in need and alleviating human suffering. He processed all the torture and negativity, to turn it into a positive direction.
Chris began volunteer work in his teenage years. He worked with a church as a Pastor for six years. He has conducted numerous activities empowering marginalized communities in Western, Central and Northern provinces of Sri Lanka. In 2004, when the Tsunami hit Sri Lanka, he was on the ground, helping thousands of people and led a trauma counseling program through community leaders. When the civil war was at peak, he joined with Sarvodaya (th e largest community building organization in Sri Lanka,) as a District Coordinator, in Mannar, Vavuniya and Kilinochchi Districts, serving hundreds of thousands of people in relief efforts, rehabilitation, resettlement and community development. Later, he realized community service was not enough to resolve the root-causes of ethnic conflict. So, he began working with other ethnic and religious people for unity and reconciliation. He shared his experiences of healing, transformation and the power of forgiveness, that leads to freedom. He was a co-founder and National Director of Sri Lanka Unites, which became one the largest organization in Sri Lanka, continually making grassroot impacts and became a global, model of conflict resolution.
Over 14 years of Chris’ humanitarian work in Sri Lanka, he has worked alongside with many community organizations: Corporates, Institutions, Foreign embassies and International organizations (Include UNOCHA, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP, IOM, WFP, WHO, OXFAM GB, USAID, European Union, Save the Children, Plan International, Asia Foundation, Norwegian Refugee Council, CARE International, etc,) for implementing projects and made a huge difference in the lives of many. He has also traveled internationally, for speaking engagements and equipping leaders.
In mid of 2014, his life was under grave danger and he was about to be killed. The persecution brought him and his immediate family to the United States. Even though he had lost everything and was traumatized, he never gave up on his positivity & journey towards healing and his vision of serving the people. In 2017, he began gathering diverse groups of people for sports, recreation and community activities, in the Greater Milwaukee area. Eventually, it became Peace360 Initiative, a not-for-profit, grassroots organization for promoting mental health and racial reconciliation, in the U.S and abroad.
Through the life challenges, displacements and busyness of his work, Chris has completed Associate Degrees, Diplomas in Theology, Inter-Cultural studies, Information Technology, Business Management, Psychology, Human Resources development, Conflict and Disaster management. He has participated in International leadership programs in Israel and in the United States. He was a certified Conflict resolution trainer at Columbia University in NY. Currently, he is pursuing a Masters degree in Christian Leadership, with Sioux Falls Seminary in SD.
Chris, his wife, Angel and their three young children, Yeshua, Oliv and Amy, reside in Brookfield, Wisconsin. They love spending time with their friends, sports, camping, hiking and other outdoor activities. Currently, Chris is employed by American Red Cross and works as a phlebotomist. But, he invests his spare time and weekends with his leadership team, to build Peace360 Initiative as a people’s movement. He strongly believes in working with purpose-driven people, raising peacemakers, equipping leaders to transform communities and to unite in co-existence and ongoing, sustainable peace.
